About Us

A beacon for African storytelling cultivating creativity, preserving cultural spaces  and bridging communities through powerful, purposeful productions.

A Root and Blossom Production was founded in 2018 by Ese J. Brume marking both a return and a new beginning. After 25 years immersed in France’s performing arts and music scene, I returned home to Nigeria with a clear purpose: to create space for African stories to thrive on stage, on screen, and in the world.

Our first production, My Nina Simone Trip, set the tone; a bold and deeply personal story inspired by the life of the High Priestess of Soul: Nina Simone, bridged continents and cultures. From that moment, our mission was clear: to nurture authentic African storytelling that is both artistically rich and globally resonant.

We are based in a special place, my family’s home in residential Ikoyi, Lagos. Built in the 1950s, the house sits on over 9,000 square meters of land, where tropical vegetation meets the calm waters of the Lagos Lagoon. The grounds are alive with plantain groves, towering palms, mango trees, and birdsong, offset by tranquil gardens, gazebos, and water features. What was once a private residence has become something more, a creative sanctuary now known as Ndali’s Place.

Ndali’s Place has become a character in its own right, featured in major productions like The Wedding Party 2 and Oloturé by EbonyLife Films, a GQ USA feature with Burna Boy shot by Prince Gyasi, and Netflix’s The Orisa Project, among others. From fashion shoots to feature films, from the quiet of the pandemic to the vibrant resurgence of Nollywood, this home has opened its doors to storytellers from across Africa and beyond.

A creative hub for African Culture, Creativity, Spaces and Storytelling
